How the calculation works
Dose and milk volume are user-entered recipe assumptions. Include milk used for steaming and discarded foam if you want a production cost, rather than only the liquid that reaches the cup.
Formula: Coffee price × dose ÷ 1,000 + milk price × milk ml ÷ 1,000 + packaging.
Worked example
The starting inputs are illustrative assumptions: Coffee price per kg ($): 28; Coffee dose (g): 18; Milk price per liter ($): 1.5; Milk used (ml): 180; Cup and lid per serving ($): 0.2. They produce 0.97$. These inputs are editable and are not market prices or industry benchmarks.
Use the result
An espresso drink and a filter batch have different dosing and waste patterns. Enter the actual format instead of treating all cups as interchangeable.
Keep the period, unit and currency consistent across the inputs. A calculator cannot identify a missing cost from the figures you provide. Retain an invoice or stock-count record for the inputs, and use the result as a check on your operating decision.
